Terms governing our complimentary website migration service for new hosting customers.

Last Updated: November 19, 2025

1. Scope of Service

WebOps provides free inbound (to WebOps) and outbound (from WebOps) migration services strictly for WordPress websites. This service is designed to seamlessly transition your WordPress environment to our managed platform or facilitate your move to another provider. Please note that migrating other Content Management Systems (CMS) or custom-built sites falls outside this free service and may incur additional professional service charges.

2. Eligibility

To qualify for the free migration service, you must own or operate the website being migrated and hold an active WebOps hosting account.

  • Inbound Migrations: You must be able to provide full access and administrative credentials to your source hosting environment (e.g., control panel access, SSH/SFTP, or WordPress admin).
  • Outbound Migrations: You must maintain an active WebOps account in good standing and provide the necessary details and credentials for the destination hosting environment.

3. Migration Process

3.1 Inbound Migrations

Our inbound migration process is structured as follows:

  1. WebOps technical staff will assess the source environment to determine compatibility and scope.
  2. We will provide an estimated timeline for the migration.
  3. The migration will be executed using methods designed to result in minimal downtime. However, zero downtime cannot be strictly guaranteed.
  4. Upon completion, the customer is required to review the migrated site on the WebOps platform and approve the transition before updating DNS records.

3.2 Outbound Migrations

For outbound migrations, the process involves:

  1. The customer must formally request the migration via our support ticketing system.
  2. The customer must provide appropriate access credentials for the destination server or hosting account.
  3. WebOps will perform the data transfer with the aim of minimal downtime.
  4. The customer is responsible for reviewing the destination site to ensure all data has been transferred successfully.

4. Limitations

Important Size Limitation

Free migrations are limited to sites with a total disk footprint of up to 10GB. Sites exceeding this size limit require a custom evaluation and may incur additional migration charges based on complexity and data transfer requirements.

The free migration service covers the transfer of files and databases. It does not include:

  • Theme, plugin, or database structural reconfiguration.
  • Code debugging or fixing broken site functionality present in the source environment.
  • Updates to incompatible software or severely outdated plugins that fail to operate on modern server environments (e.g., current PHP versions).

Customers are strictly responsible for maintaining their own complete, independent backups of their website data before initiating any migration process.

5. Timing

WebOps will use reasonable commercial efforts to complete migrations within the estimated timeline provided during the initial assessment. Actual completion times will vary based on the site's size, technical complexity, and the performance of the source or destination servers. WebOps reserves the right to prioritize migration requests based on overall operational needs and network capacity.

6. Customer Responsibilities

The success of a migration heavily depends on customer cooperation. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, verified access credentials and information promptly.
  • Ensure you have the legal right to transfer the data.
  • Be available for communication during the scheduled migration window to address any unforeseen issues or required authorizations (such as multi-factor authentication prompts).

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The free migration service is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. WebOps makes no warranties, whether express or implied, regarding the success of the migration, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the migration will be entirely error-free or uninterrupted.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, WebOps shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or related to the migration service. In any event, WebOps' total aggregate liability arising from or related to this service shall be strictly capped at the amount of hosting service fees directly associated with the specific account undergoing the migration during the month the migration occurred.

9. Changes to Terms

WebOps reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the free migration service, or alter these Terms & Conditions, at any time without prior direct notice. The most current version of these terms will be posted on this page. Your continued use of our services or initiation of a migration request following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Governing Law

These Free Migrations Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding relating to these terms shall be instituted exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
